There are several chambers of commerce in Pakistan, including in Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Islamabad. Members of Chambers of Commerce have access to government officials, intermediaries, and ambassadors leading businesses on a national and international scale. As a means of sharing their concerns with government officials on business-related issues, chamber members maintain contact with them. Members must affix their Certificates of Origin, PSW registrations, and Certificates of Origin to all commercial documents. It also provides detailed advice on trade and investment as well as explains government regulations and procedures. Additionally, the Standing Committees monitor and pursue issues related to Trade and Industry, Foreign Investment Regulations, Tourism, Taxation, and Infrastructure.

Every chamber of commerce in Pakistan has two classes of membership. Classes in this category include:

1. Corporate Class / Member:

Multinational corporations or organizations with offices or branches in Pakistan are considered corporate-class organizations. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan includes these companies and organizations as members. The turnover of the company must also be at least Rs.50 million. The turnover should be at least Rs.50 million per year.

2. Associate Class / Member:

A management organization in the Associate class must have an annual turnover of less than Rs. 50 million, and cannot be a corporate or multinational organization.

ICCI Membership Eligibility Criteria:

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry membership is fairly simple and straightforward. Below is a step-by-step explanation of the process:

Applicants for membership must declare whether their business concern is a sole proprietorship, partnership firm, an association of persons (AoP), or a company holding a valid NTN (National Tax Number) and sales tax registration.
Prospective members must either be permanent residents of the Capital or have substantial business interests in industrial and corporate businesses.
The Chamber’s territorial jurisdictions will assess members’ income and sales taxes.
The application will be proposed and reviewed by the existing members
A member should not have a criminal record.

Documents Required for ICCI Membership:

All directors’ CNICs.All directors’ CNICs. Foreign nationals must submit copies of their passports.
National Tax Number of the company
Copies of the company’s latest income tax returns (where applicable)
Sales Tax Registration and Latest Sales Tax Returns (where applicable)
Three photographs of representatives
Letter of appointment for premises/lease deed
The original bank certificate for the business name
A copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association
A copy of the certificate of incorporation or filing proofs of forms 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, and 45 with a BOI letter.
An authorized representative must notify ICCI of all correspondence by giving power of attorney to one director or general manager.

Whenever directors are changed, the SECP must receive the latest copy of Form 29 or Form 38 to 45.

Membership Cancellation

Members of an organization may be terminated or disqualified if they violate the Trade Ordinance, according to their articles of association and memorandum.

Membership Renewal

The membership of a member can be renewed annually by paying the prescribed subscription within the time period specified in the Memorandum and Articles of Association. Every year, the 31st of March is the date. Renewing your membership for the upcoming year requires a copy of your income and sales tax filing.
